I would like to sent to device some Unicode characters (e.g. Palo Alto 8.1/Cisco ASA) but unfortunately these are truncated. The same situation occurs when pasting character like £. Output from these devices is displayed correctly in the terminal even if they contain unicode characters in configuration.

For instance this command pasted to putty (when connecting to PanOS 8.1):

set deviceconfig system login-banner 太 changed i18n banner 太 is pasted as

set deviceconfig system login-banner changed i18n banner

  • I never have tried to i18n input on a Palo Alto device. If this is possible, use the GUI to enter the banner and check that the command is correct. If it is correct, check if the terminal software character code is UTF-8. – Roger Sanghee Gold Aug 20 at 1:35
