How many stack cables would be needed if we want to stack two 3850 switches : We have one 3850 switch and planning to add one more. So my guess is only one Power & One data stack cable would be fine. Or please let me know if it is mandatory to loop the cable with two Power & two data stack cable? Minimum (and improperly), one stacking cable (data). ...

A stack should be connected in a loop, with a stack cable for each switch. With two switches, that would be two stack cables, three switches three stack cables, etc. that means Switch 1 connects to Switch 2 that connects to Switch 3, etc. (up to a total of nine switches in a data stack), the last switch then connects back to Switch 1. With larger stacks, you ...

According to your requirement SVI 's are configured in layer3 multilayered switch that is virtual L3 interfàce by creating vlan 10 & 20 Now to ensure ip allocation dynamically to PCs . Dynamic host configuration protocol(DHCP) configuration is required on switch Switch (config)# ip DHCP pool vlan10 Switch(config)#network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 ...

The speed 100 duplex full on GE1/0/8 & GE1/0/11 are most likely a problem. Setting a fixed speed/duplex mode disables autonegotiation. If the other side isn't set to exactly the same mode the link will buck. With autonegotation active on the other side, it'll detect the speed but fall back to half-duplex, creating a duplex mismatch - the link works ...

That should be possible - provided that... the same set (or at least a common subset) of VLAN IDs is used across the chain of switches this same (sub)set of VLANs is configured/added on all the switches along the path this same (sub)set of VLANs is "allowed" and "tagged" on all segments (the inter-switch links) along the path. some very diligent attention ...

ip dhcp pool POOL10 network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0 ... ip dhcp pool POOL20 network 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0 ... The dhcp agent knows which pool to use based on the source interface of the request. So, a request arriving on the SVI VLAN10 will get an address from POOL10. (and so forth) When the DHCP server isn't in the same network, the dhcp relay ...

SWITCH_DISABLE_PASSWORD_RECOVERY cannot be changed from ROMMON -- rather defeats the purpose. If password recovery is disabled, you won't get to the CLI without erasing the configuration. If you're there, just follow the rest of Cisco's documented procedure... disable the startup config (SWITCH_IGNORE_STARTUP_CFG=1) and boot without any config.

To find a duplicate IP address: Run a packet capture (possibly filtered by arp). Ping the address to prompt an ARP request. Ignore the actual ping reply. Both devices should reply to the ARP request. Look up the rogue MAC address from step 3 on your switch and follow the associated port to the next switch or to the actual host. [EDIT] Both server and ...

Are these bytes or queues or potatoes? I couldnt find anyting online. Cisco maintains documentation on its devices. For example, it took me about 30 seconds to find this by searching for cisco 3850 softmax buffer. I have higlighted the relavant text from Catalyst 3850: Troubleshooting Output drops: The Default Buffer allocation for a 1GB port is 300 ...

To get traffic from one network (VLAN) to another requires a router. Even if you bridge the VLANs at layer-2, the devices on the different networks will be unable to communicate. A host will look at the destination address, and it can tell that it is on a different network. If it is, then it will send the frame to its configured gateway (router). A router is ...
