Lived in Destin, Florida my entire life, except for college - at University of Florida in Gainesville from 1997 – 2006. I graduated with Bachelors of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical & Computer Engineering, 2002. Following my bachelloreate studies, I pursued a Masters of Science in Materials Engineering (2003) and a Doctorate (PhD) in Neuropsychopharmacology (2006). The development of new drugs that interact with and enhance, modify or otherwise influence human conciousness, pain, emotional lability, euphoria, perception and general well-being is probably my most passionate realm of interest, study, experimentation and work. The brain is so incredibly complex and beautiful, the ability to safely enhance its functioning with the utmost caution to avoid risks is, quite simply remarkable.
I've been a pilot since I was 17 and and gained my instrument instructor, commercial and ATP while 19. I have attained 7500 hours of flight time as of November, 2018. My type ratings include Single ane Multi Engine Land and Sea, Hi-performance endorsement, Turboprop (turbine) and 7 different jets. Of the 7 jets, my favorite to fly is the Citation Ultra (yes, even moreso than a Lear-60, Gulfstream-V or Citation-X). Other than the typical stuff - hanging out with friends, water skiing, boating, flying of course, etc., I love programming in just about anything 'C' related (e.g. C, C++, Objective-C, Objective-C++), Python, LISP, Perl and some ASM. I despise Java.
Additionally, a favorite hobby of mine is advanced networking design/troubleshooting/labbing/etc. I guess I shouldn't really call it a hobby since I use it in my career continuously and hold many certifications from various companies and organizations. I'm also a member of the to the Linux Kernel Network Stack Subsystem Dev Team (specifically ipfilter, routing, switching and bridging ... e.g. iptables, ebtable) and try to attend the netconf conference every year...assuming I still get invited!
I have a business where we write custom code to integrate with VMware ESXi/vCenter/NSX/etc. Additionally, I own a pharmaceutical research corporation specializing in developing drugs and human-machine-interfaces specific mainly to neuropsycho(physi|pharmac)ology. I am really interested in the limbic system, pre-frontal cortex, cingulate gyrate and the pleasure & reward center in general. Therefore, my research focuses on various methods of inducing euphoria, inhibition of anxieties/phobias of various etiologies, etc. while doing so without harmful physical dependency issues.
I certainly would like to consider myself a jack of all trades. I can claim with certainty that I am a master of none. :)
