Multicast is a method of network communication where traffic is sent to a group of hosts that have subscribed to a multicast group. This is in contrast to unicast (traffic is sent to a single host) or broadcast (traffic is sent to all hosts). Multicast can happen at OSI layer-2, layer-3 or both.
