For questions about Network Address Translation (NAT), a method of modifying network address information in IPv4 packet headers.

Network Address Translation, originally defined in RFC 1631 (subsequently updated in multiple RFCs), was developed as a temporary solution for the IPv4 address shortage until IPv6 could be developed and deployed. NAT is often confused with security, but it is not a security solution.
